Trowa is quiet and contemplative, the type of man who'd rather wait and think than act irrationally. He is fiercely determined for whatever purpose he chooses to fight for, and Trowa fights effectively. Rather than barge into battle, he'll consider the best course of action before moving forward; he's calculative when the need is there. Trowa also prefers to keep to himself rather than parade around as some sort of spectacle.

Trowa is also very restrained with his emotions; he is impassive, preferring to keep a "mask" up rather than exposing his true feelings. He says he works only for himself this way, rather than tying emotion to any side and staying neutral when it comes down to nationalities and patriotism. His stoic attitude also affects his way of thinking; he cares little for the future, only accepting things as they come and having little opinion either way.

It's unclear of whether the reason Trowa acts this way is a defense mechanism because in truth he is a very sensitive individual; or rather he truly doesn't care. Nonetheless, Trowa remains a very mysterious person and is full of nuances that have yet to be deciphered.

Trowa is also a skilled flute player, as well as skilled with knife throwing. He possesses a very accurate eye.

His history is much like a fractured mirror, and he picks up certain pieces only when it's suitable and beneficial. Other than that, Trowa doesn't speak of his background much... though that isn't to say there isn't one. Perhaps, in the case of illustrious histories like Trowa's, his decision to keep relatively mum about personal matters is for the best; after all, the series of entanglements that follow can hardly say much about his loyalty.

For as long as he could remember, Trowa was an orphan boy, used by the Royal Mezieres Navy as a rigger, and in the dire case he was needed, to man a few cannons: a powder monkey, if you will. Trowa grew disciplined and quiet, accustomed to simply do as he was told and caring little for the considerable danger it put on his own short life--after all, he had nothing to tie him down to this world: he was only an orphan boy, and who would miss him? He was "No-Name" back then; he couldn't remember his real name, and it probably did not matter in the long run anyways.

During this time, a young girl and Trowa became romantically involved... until he realized she was a spy for the Royal Trivigno Navy, and the necklace she had given him was a transmitter. She insisted she loved him, only betrayed him to help her sick family, but Trowa was deeply hurt (though he didn't show it) and told her to go back, because she had a family to take care of. And the two parted ways, leaving Trowa slightly embittered and wary of pretty women (especially those from Trivigno), even if he is still unsure to this day if the girl's feelings had been reciprocated on his part.

Trowa Barton is actually the name of a popular noble's son in Trivigno, and he was killed by a mechanic and an engineer No-Name had been familiar with; the Barton family had always shown signs of interest towards conquering the world, and little Mezieres had frankly had enough. The two assassins had been afraid that Trowa would take his influence and jumpstart further colonization in the New World; No-Name had been there during the entire ordeal, and perhaps on an act of whimsy or maybe calculated design, No-Name offered to keep quiet if he could take Trowa's name.

And he did.

Somewhere along the long expanse of time, Trowa had left the navy in favor of a pirate ship Autumn Waters (most likely due to the highly-debatable slave trade... Trowa wanted none of that). It is unclear, even to himself, what his intentions are on the pirate ship. He is twenty now, after all, and it's time he finds himself something worth fighting for.

It’s rumored that when he isn’t on the ship, Trowa takes residence with a sweet tavern girl named Catherine... but no one’s had the gall to ask him if it were true. It’s certainly true he knows her (Trowa will write about her in his logbook), but the question of his living arrangements is still up in the air.
